Walking tours
The Pointe du Siège, a nature reserve in the Orne Estuary, is a must-see nature walk in Ouistreham (approximately a 1 hour 20 minute round trip walk from the hotel to the point). Climb the few steps of the observation tower and discover the local flora and fauna.
The Maison de la Nature et de l'Estuaire (Nature and Estuary Center), located in Sallenelles, is accessible by car or bicycle. Once there, you can explore on foot one of the largest protected natural areas in Calvados. Along the trails following the Orne River, you can observe the local flora and fauna; over 400 bird species have been recorded, and it's not uncommon to spot a seal or seals. The Maison de la Nature et de l'Estuaire offers permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as guided tours.
From Ouistreham beach to Luc-sur-Mer, this walk is ideal for both children and adults, taking approximately 4 hours round trip on foot or 1 hour by bike in complete safety. Follow the coastline and admire the Norman architecture, from half-timbered villas to those built with Caen stone, dating back to the 19th century, which give our coastline its distinctive character. Conclude your walk with a visit to the Parc de la Baleine (Whale Park) in Luc-sur-Mer, which recounts the story of the whale that washed ashore in 1885. If you look closely, you might even spot its skeleton. The large playground is a big hit with children: wooden playhouses, slides, and swings are all freely accessible.
The Bois du Caprice, located across three municipalities, offers an nature trail with information panels, winding through woods, ponds, and meadows starting from Saint Aubin d'Arquenais (a 10-minute drive). Also accessible on foot from Ouistreham, the loop takes approximately 2 hours. The Guidigo will help you plan your family walk. Children will enjoy the large playground, skate park, and football/basketball pitch, while adults can try out the outdoor fitness area.
Bike outings
Numerous cycle paths crisscross the territory of Caen la Mer and Calvados. They have been developed and signposted and allow you to travel safely to visit the region. The Voie Verte which runs along the Orne canal will take you to the center of Caen in 1 hour. A new loop will be inaugurated in March, which will go around Ouistreham, Colleville-Montgomery, Hermanville-sur-mer, Lion-sur-mer, Saint Aubin d'Arquenay and Bénouville.
Ouistreham is also the starting or finishing point of the Vélo Francette which goes to La Rochelle. It is also a stage of the Vélomaritime which connects Roscoff in Brittany to Bray-Dune in the North over 1500 km.
Our hotel is certified as Accueil Vélo (Cyclist Welcome), you will find a shelter to park your bikes safely.
Riva Locationis located on Avenue de la Mer, just a 5-minute walk from our hotel. You can rent a bicycle for half a day, a full day, or even a week for those who are more ambitious.

The Ouistreham Lighthouse, a 15-minute walk from the hotel, guided tour on Tuesdays February 14, 21, April 11 and 18, 10am or 11am, meeting at the foot of the lighthouse, reservation with the tourist office at 02 31 97 18 63.
La Délicate, audio tour , using a parasol to discover the history of Ouistreham Riva Bella and Colleville-Montgomery, departs from the tourist office. Tickets are available at reception or directly from the tourist office. Open from January.
The Grand Bunker, in Ouistreham, an 8-minute walk from the hotel, offers an immersive experience in a bunker that retraces the history of the Atlantic Wall in Normandy. Open from February 5th.
The Caen Memorial, 20 minutes from Ouistreham, tells the whole story of the Second World War. Open from January 24th.
The Caen Museum of Fine Arts , located within the castle walls, 25 minutes from Ouistreham, is one of the most important museums for European paintings from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Take the opportunity to see the new statue of William the Conqueror and Matilda of Flanders at the foot of the castle. Open from January.
The Jardin des Plantes in Caen, 25 minutes from Ouistreham, this botanical garden presents several thousand species including rare varieties.
Vieux-la-Romaine, a museum and archaeological site 30 minutes from Ouistreham, offers the opportunity to discover the ancient site of the villa of Aregenua, the capital that administered the territories of present-day Normandy in the 1st century AD. Open from February 1st. Regularly, fun activities are organized for children.
